Parliament approved draft Law on Common Courts in third reading

Georgian Parliament approved draft Law on Common Courts with 81 votes pro and 7 con with the third reading.

Based on the proposed amendment, the full membership instead of the previous two-thirds of the High Council of Justice (HCoJ) will make a decision on disciplinary issues by a judge.

Also, the prohibition about the election of one and the same person as an HCoJ member for two terms was abolished.

The bill will be submitted to President Salome Zourabichvili for signature.
