Parliament adopts draft Defence Code in 2nd reading

The Georgian Parliament adopted the draft Defence Code in the second reading, with 79 MPs backing, while six were against it.

According to the Deputy Defence Minister, Grigol Giorgadze, the amendments fully align the military service with defence objectives, add the most crucial social security protections for the armed forces, and establish strong legal foundations for defence organisation and NATO compatibility.

Parliament will approve the amendments in the third reading in September.
