Parents of Children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy hold March of Gratitude

Parents of children living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, together with the children and supporters, are holding a March of Gratitude in Tbilisi.

According to the parents, the event is intended to express appreciation both to the state and to all citizens who participated in and supported the public demonstrations organized by families over recent months.

The march began at Rustaveli Metro Station and is scheduled to conclude near the Government Administration building.

Parents say that the primary objective of their months-long advocacy campaign has been achieved. Their central message is that the lives of children affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy have been protected through the progress made on access to treatment.

On June 4, a meeting was held between government officials and parents of children with the condition. After the meeting, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that a working group would be established, involving both the Ministry of Health and parents, to actively address the provision of specific medications for children diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
