Papuashvili meets Speakers of Belgium’s Federal Parliament

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili met with Vincent Blondel, President of the Senate of the Federal Parliament of the Kingdom of Belgium, and Peter De Roover, President of the House of Representatives.

According to the Georgian Parliament, the sides recalled a productive meeting held in April 2025 within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and highlighted the importance of the Parliament Speaker’s bilateral visit to Brussels.

The Parliament said the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries is developing successfully. The importance of parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral relations was also emphasized.

“Shalva Papuashvili discussed ongoing changes in regional geopolitics and the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor for Europe’s energy security.

“The sides discussed challenges in Georgia-EU relations and emphasized the importance of dialogue. Shalva Papuashvili briefed his Belgian counterparts on the main priorities of parliamentary activities.

“The meeting was held as part of Shalva Papuashvili’s official visit to the Kingdom of Belgium. The parliamentary delegation includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee; Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the European Integration Committee; and Davit Matikashvili, Chair of the Procedural Issues Committee,” the Georgian Parliament said.
