Over 16 kilograms of narcotics seized as police arrest three suspects

Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have arrested three individuals on charges of illegal purchase, possession, and facilitating the distribution of narcotics in particularly large quantities.

The investigation established that the suspects were involved in organised drug distribution schemes, placing illicit substances at designated locations via messaging applications and social media platforms for subsequent sale.

Following searches of the suspects’ persons, residences, and various stash sites, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of narcotics prepared for distribution. The evidence includes approximately 14 kilograms of dried cannabis, around one kilogram of hashish, nearly one kilogram of new psychoactive substances (NPS), and methadone.

Among those detained is an individual targeted in a controlled delivery operation, during which officers intercepted a parcel addressed to the suspect and secured a large quantity of narcotics as evidence.

In addition, police recovered specialised packaging materials used for parcelling and distributing drugs. An investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 260(4) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
