Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, said one of the main results of the delegation’s visit to Georgia was that they were able to hold meetings with all sides.

According to him, the Assembly has been working with various political actors for the past six to seven months, and the meetings held during the two-day visit were the result of that work.

“One of the main results of the visit is that we were able to talk to all sides. The Parliamentary Assembly has been working with all sides for the last six to seven months. What you have seen over the last two days is the result of these months of work,” Pons Sampietro told journalists.

He noted that the delegation discussed all major issues during meetings in Georgia, including the lack of political dialogue. According to him, this topic was raised during meetings with the Prime Minister, the President, the Speaker of Parliament, and representatives of the opposition.

Pons Sampietro described the visit as sincere and fruitful. He also said that on the first day, the delegation met with internally displaced persons who are unable to return to their homes.

The President of the OSCE PA also stressed that the organization condemns any form of violence, while democratic systems must protect the rights of citizens.

“We raised the issue of the lack of dialogue with the Prime Minister, the President, the Speaker of Parliament and the opposition. And I must say — there is no dialogue in this country. We may have different views, but our foundation is the 2024 report, and we believe that we must work together to implement its recommendations,” said Pere Joan Pons Sampietro.
