OSCE PA endorses amendments to resolution on Georgia's occupied territories
Maka Botchorishvili, Chair of the Georgian parliamentary European Integration Committee, participated in a working meeting of the Political and Security Affairs Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vancouver, Canada.
Maka Botchorishvili spoke about Georgia’s facing challenges and threats amid the security environment in the OSCE area. She focused on the significance of international order.
At the initiative of the European Integration Committee Chair, two amendments were made to the resolution that refers to the safe return of IDPs and enforcement of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The resolution reads that Russia should pull out its military forces from Georgia’s two occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions per the August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement.
The resolution text also reiterates the OSCE’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was held from June 30 to July 4 in Vancouver, Canada. Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, led the Georgian permanent delegation.
