Opposition MPs claim they were not allowed to attend Legal Issues Committee session

The parliamentary opposition claims that they were prevented from attending the session of the Committee on Legal Issues. According to MP Khatia Dekanoidze, the committee’s meeting, during which the Transparency of Foreign Influence bill was endorsed in the third reading, is illegitimate.

“Opposition representatives were prevented from attending the meeting. Upon our arrival, police delayed us outside, and within one minute and seven seconds, the session commenced. It was an astonishing, disgraceful, and illegitimate proceeding, even the GD MPs did not manage to enter. Only the committee chair and select individuals were attending the session. I state unequivocally that this session lacks legitimacy,” declared Khatia Dekanoidze.

The Legal Committee endorsed the Transparency of Foreign Influence bill in its third reading.
