Opposition MP Dekanoidze: GD tries to prevent Georgia from being granted EU candidate status

The ruling Georgian Dream party, according to opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze, “spares no effort to make sure Georgia is not granted EU candidature status.”

Dekanoidze believes that the party is “engaged in anti-Western propaganda,” stating “The largest number of Russian citizens are entering Georgia, and flights have been restored.”

“I also agree with the president that Russia would be the first to be pleased if Georgia does not receive the status. Georgia’s status grant is hampered by the recent opening of relations with Russia.

If Georgia is granted the status—which I sincerely hope it will—it will be because of the geopolitical environment and the merits of the Georgian people rather than the Georgian Dream,” she added.
