Opposition MP Akubardia: Georgian Dream ignores warnings, NATO door closed
The opposition MP Teona Akubardia says the ruling Georgian Dream party disregarded numerous warnings about the potential closure of NATO’s door following the adoption of the “Russian Law.”
“Today, NATO’s door is closed for Georgia,” Akubardia stated, “the promise made in 2008 regarding Georgia’s NATO membership is no longer in the summit declaration. Georgia is no longer mentioned among the countries of the Black Sea region or alongside partner countries like Bosnia and Moldova. The only commitment mentioned relates to the withdrawal of Russian troops, including Moldova,” Akubardia criticized the Georgian Dream party, alleging that their actions have aligned with Kremlin interests and have closed off Georgia’s 22-year journey towards NATO membership.
