Opposition announces coordination platform with Salome Zourabichvili to sanction specific individuals

The opposition claims that a coordination platform has been established with Salome Zourabichvili [the former President], to work on sanctioning certain individuals.

Specifically, Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, stated that they would jointly work on sanctioning people involved in illegally “stitching together” political cases.

“It’s important that a coordination platform was created with the president, where practically all political players sit together and regularly discuss all issues. Naturally, political prisoners are a priority for all of us. Salome Zourabichvili herself will speak about this, but I can tell you that we are jointly working on sanctioning those who are involved in absolutely unconstitutionally and illegally fabricating these political cases. Whether they are false witnesses, judges, or others. We will work on this together. These lists exist for everyone. NGOs have them, we have them, and we will consolidate them,” Elene Khoshtaria said.

According to Giorgi Vashadze, Strategy Aghmashenebeli party leader, they will work with partners using nominal lists for sanctioning.

“We discussed upcoming issues in the European Parliament concerning Georgia, as well as the Munich Conference, where Madam Salome will travel. We agreed on one point: that we will jointly create lists of people who are, so to speak, executors of a criminal system’s orders. Who are these? They could be investigators, judges, false witnesses, or people who forge various evidence. We all have collected data, we will consolidate this, and we will work with partners using these nominal lists to raise issues of their sanctioning, or for example, travel restrictions and other matters, with appropriate evidence. The main positive outcome of this meeting is that we agreed on a common format, a platform,” Giorgi Vashadze noted after the meeting between opposition representatives and Salome Zourabichvili.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the United National Movement, Strategy Aghmashenebeli, Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia coalition, Gakharia for Georgia party, and the Federalists.
