Opposition Alliance demands Droa Leader’s transfer to civilian clinic

“The only way to improve Elene Khoshtaria’s health is to transfer her to a civilian clinic for complex medical examinations, confirmation of the diagnosis, and systemic treatment,” reads the statement released by the Opposition Alliance.

According to the statement, each representative of the penitentiary system who bears responsibility for Elene Khoshtaria’s health should acknowledge that rejection of necessary treatment is a criminal offence.

“Elene Khoshtaria has been in political captivity of Ivanishvili’s regime for 10 months. She is serving a prison sentence allegedly for making an inscription on Kakha Kaladze’s election banner, but, in fact, for an uncompromised fight for freedom, resistance, non-recognition of the illegitimate government and solidarity that the regime representatives have confirmed with their public statements.

Over the past few months, Elene’s health has been steadily deteriorating. She suffers from chronic pain that is difficult to manage in prison. Constant pain in imprisonment is tantamount to torture.

The regime’s representatives lie when saying that Elene is provided with all necessary medical assistance. In fact, she lacks systemic, result-oriented treatment, which is confirmed by the gradual deterioration of her health state.

Each representative of the penitentiary system, who bears responsibility for Elene Khoshtaria’s health, should acknowledge that rejection of necessary treatment is a criminal offence. Also, each representative of the Russian regime should understand that they will face political and legal responsibility for intentionally harming Elene’s health.
