Opening economy has no alternative, PM says

“Opening economy has no alternative,” says Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, linking it to the tourism season, “which did not fail and population saw additional income.”

PM believes keeping economic growth to be crucial along with the vaccination, facemask rule, and protecting loved ones.

Garibashvili claims, “imposing lockdown is easy but when the country has more than three million vaccines, shutting down the economy is impossible, especially for a small country like Georgia.”

“It is unattainable to close down the country today. Local restrictions might be announced, and we did so. The situation is stabilizing. The whole world faced the same challenge of fourth and fifth (coronavirus) waves,” PM stated.

Speaking about the upshots of opened economy, PM is “proud to see the country’s double-digit economic growth and calmed business.”

Earlier today, Georgia reported 3,034 coronavirus cases, 3,952 recoveries, and 86 deaths, increasing the total case tally to 559,943, among them 506,486 people recovered and 7,649 died.
