On 9th day from death of Ilia II, anniversary of restoration of autocephaly, Mitropolitan Shio to hold memorial service at Sioni Cathedral on March 25
Shio Mujiri, Mitropolitan and Bishop of Senaki and Chkhorotsku and locum tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, will hold a memorial service at Sioni Cathedral on March 25 in connection with the ninth day from the death of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II and anniverary of the restoration of autocephaly.
According to the Georgian Patriarchate, the church service will commence at 2 p.m.
“Wednesday, March 25, is the ninth day from the death of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II. At the same time, March 25 is the day of the restoration of autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
In connection with the day, locum tenens, Mitropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku Shio (Mujiri), alongside clergy, will conduct a church service at the Sioni Cathedral to pay tribute to the memory of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II. The church service will commence at 14:00,” reads the statement from the Patriarchate.
