Olaf Scholz: EC points paramount; joint efforts of all political forces needed
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.
At a joint press point on Wednesday, Scholz said, “in European Council (EC), we agreed to grant European perspective to Georgia this year; I want to encourage Georgia to undertake necessary reforms for that.”
“The EC recommendations are paramount on this path, which requires a joint, national effort of all political forces, and that’s why I want to assure you that Germany will help Georgia in this regard,” Scholz asserted.
German Chancellor noted that Germany-Georgia bilateral relations are “close and multifaceted,” covering the entire spectrum of economy, ecology, energy and culture.
“Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is the main event of this year. Germany closely supports Ukraine. It was good that Georgia backed the UN resolution that condemned Russia’s aggression and also announced to prevent any attempt to circumvent the sanctions imposed on Russia,” Scholz stated.
