Occupied Sokhumi prosecution initiates legal proceedings in December 21 rally

Occupied Sokhumi Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal investigation for organizing mass disorder and violence against government officials during the December 21 protest rally in Sokhumi. The Prosecutor’s Office said it probes into the rally case to determine details and evaluate inflicted damage.

Opposition in occupied Abkhazia organized a protest at the governmental building on December 21 and demanded the resignation of de-facto president Aslan Bzhania. The opposition accused Bzhania of economic and energy crisis and non-implementation of promised reforms. The so-called security forces of occupied Abkhazia fired smoke grenades against the protesters.
