Nino Tsilosani: For years, before receiving external instructions so-called NGOs stated that war started on August 8
“Assessment of historic events should be based on facts and not on political interests,” wrote Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Nino Tsilosani, in her Facebook post.
According to Tsilosani, the August War is a tragedy in Georgia’s newest history, and its use for narrow party purposes is unacceptable.
“I believe it is essential to revisit the topic of the August War and the speculations surrounding the date it began. As we have seen time and again, radical agents actively exploit this issue for political speculation. Nobody should think that Saakashvili and the National Movement regime changed the attitude.
In fact, once it was factually confirmed that hostilities were already underway on August 7, and that presenting August 8 as the start date of the war amounted to a political verdict for the agent network, they immediately shifted the narrative in line with external instructions, designating August 7 as the day the war began.
The society remembers the shameful campaign waged by agents, which continued for years with the active engagement of so-called NGOs, which represent the key source of destabilization in the country and agents of external patrons.
Before receiving external directives on altering the date regarding the start of the war, they, for many years, asserted that the war started on August 8. The Soros Foundation had a special webpage advertised by NGO representatives, for instance, by Giorgi Burjanadze and Saba Brachuli.
Taking all this into account, and especially now when discussioon is ongoing openly and publicly over our country’s recent part, when foreign interests toward Georgia are observed and their agents are indentified, today, as never before, it is significant that assessment of historic events are based on facts and not on political interests.
