Nika Melia: People's will must fulfil, country must start coalition ruling
“The will of the people must be fulfilled through a coalition government,” declared Coalition for Change leader Nika Melia, calling on Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili to “hand over power to the people” and “the country must start coalition ruling.”
“I congratulate Georgian society. We all fought together, regardless of political preferences,” Melia told supporters. “Thousands of voters went to the polls and voted not only for specific political groups but for change.”
Melia’s remark follows the exit polls, commissioned by IMEDI TV and Mtavari Arkhi.
According to the GORBI results, as of 6 p.m., the GD received 56.1%, followed by Coalition for Change – Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa – 12.6%, United National Movement – 11.6%, Strong Georgia – Lelo, for People, for Liberty – 7.0%, and Gakharia for Georgia – 4.8%.

Georgia holds parliamentary elections today under a new fully proportional system, with voters set to elect all 150 members of parliament in a single round of voting. The parties must now secure at least 5% of the total vote to gain parliamentary representation. Eighteen political parties and coalitions are vying for seats in this historic race.
