Newly-elected City Assemblies hold first sittings

City Assemblies (Sakrebulos) elected during the 2021 municipal elections gathered for the first sittings. Tbilisi Sakrebulo elected the chairman, a single-mandate MP from the Georgian Dream (GD) party Giorgi Tkemaladze. It is the second chairman term for Tkemaladze. Twenty-seven members voted pro, one con, and one member abstained. The elder member Nikoloz Kakhetelidze chaired the first sitting.

Tbilisi Sakrebulo has 29 members from the GD party and 21 representatives from the opposition parties, 13 among them represent the United National Movement (UNM) party, four MPs are from For Georgia party, two from Lelo and one from Ana Dolidze-For People party.

The first sitting of the City Assembly is underway in Batumi, Adjara. It is also supposed to elect a new chair though 18 votes are needed, while neither the ruling party nor the opposition has enough mandates.
