New parliament to convene on December 11

The President of Georgia issued an order to schedule the first session of the newly elected parliament, the press service of the President of Georgia informed on December 8.

According to the order, the first session will be convened at 12:00 pm local time on December 11.

The President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili will open the first session of the Parliament of the 10th Convocation, as defined by the regulations.

According to the procedure, after the President opens the session, she will give the floor to the senior member of the Parliament, who will chair the sitting before the Chairman is elected.

According to the summary protocol issued by the Central Election Commission of Georgia on December 3, there are nine political parties in the Parliament of the 10th Convocation. The ruling party will have 90 MPs, while 60 seats of the opposition are distributed as follows: European Georgia won five mandates, National Movement-Power in Unity secured 36 seats, Alliance of Patriots has four mandates, Labor Party one seat, Citizens – Aleko Elisashvili won two mandates, Giorgi Vashadze – Strategy Aghmashenebeli – four, Girchi also secured four seats and Lelo – four mandates.

The opposition parties refuse to take on their mandates and boycott the election results.
