Vice-President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Nino Jeladze, participated in the panel discussion organized within the framework of the 51st BACEE International Banking Conference, co-organised with Cartu Bank JSC.

Nino Jeladze focused on the NBG’s role in support of financial technologies and an innovative environment. She remarked that the NBG had introduced a forward-looking regulatory framework for the registration of digital banks and virtual asset service providers, significantly facilitating the entry of fintech companies into the market.

“Georgia’s financial ecosystem is developing rapidly. New types of institutions, especially virtual asset service providers, are writing a new chapter in the country’s financial history. Today, 33 virtual asset service providers operate in the market,” she stated.

Nino Jeladze emphasized that the goal of the new NBG regulation is to protect consumer rights, upgrade risk management standards, and comply with the best international standards.

“These initiatives once again confirm that the National Bank of Georgia actively supports innovations and creates favorable conditions for the introduction of new technologies, while ensuring the stability of the financial system and consumer protection,” she said.

Akeksandre Khazaradze, NBG’s Financial Markets Department Head and Aleksandre Ergeshidze, Specialized Risks Department Head, also participated in the panel discussion.
