NBG President, US Ambassador meet

President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Koba Gvenetadze, hosted US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, at the bank’s HQ office on Tuesday.

The meeting discussed the consequences of the ongoing war in Ukraine on the global financial system and challenges in the region. President introduced the US Ambassador to the measures carried out in connection with US-imposed monetary sanctions against Russia.

“Georgian National Bank has always operated and operates under the standards defined by international resolutions. NBG gave instructions on sanctions-related obligations to the Georgian financial sector on the second day of the war in Ukraine. As the regulator, NBG adheres to all standards and international resolutions,” Gvenetadze said.

Ambassador expressed support and readiness to work jointly for Georgia’s economic growth, stability and prosperity.
