The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) released the monthly report, based on which, in September, annual inflation stood at 5.6%, while the general price level rose by 0.4% compared to August.

According to the NBG, the main factor driving inflation this year, globally and in Georgia, is the rise in fuel prices. This dynamic is the result of geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions, which have driven up the prices of crude oil and petroleum products.

As for measures of relatively sticky prices, core inflation, which excludes volatile food, energy, and cigarette prices from the consumer basket, stood at 3.5% in September, while services inflation amounted to 3.7%.
