NBG Governor meets Visa Senior Vice President
The Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava, has met with the Senior Vice President of Visa and Country Manager for Ukraine, Georgia, CIS, and South-Eastern Europe, Sergii Martynchuk, alongside Visa’s Regional Manager for the Caucasus and Moldova, Diana Kiguradze.
According to the National Bank of Georgia, NBG Vice Governor Ekaterine Galdava and the Head of the International Relations Department, Giorgi Edilashvili, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties discussed ongoing and planned projects aimed at strengthening Georgia’s payment system, consumer protection mechanisms, and financial literacy initiatives, as well as prospects for co-operation between the National Bank of Georgia and Visa.
Natia Turnava expressed her gratitude to Visa for its active support in developing the NBG’s platform for comparing payment service fees and commercial bank deposit rates. Created at the National Bank’s initiative, this new platform enables consumers to compare fees charged by various payment service providers alongside the interest rates offered on commercial bank deposit products, thereby helping them to make well-informed financial decisions.
The parties also discussed the upcoming Tbilisi Finance Summit, which will take place in the Georgian capital for the second time on October 27-28 this year. As with last year, Visa remains an active supporter of the summit.
The discussion also covered ongoing and future initiatives designed to enhance access to innovative payment services nationwide.
According to NBG Governor Natia Turnava, close co-operation with the private sector and international partners is essential for the National Bank of Georgia to provide consumers with modern, secure, and innovative payment services.
Visa has operated in Georgia for over 25 years and plays a vital role in the development of the country’s payment ecosystem. As of June 2026, the number of active Visa cards in Georgia exceeded 1.9 million.
