NBG Chair: Inflation rate to stand at 4% in 2021

Georgia’s inflation rate will stand at 4% in 2021, Georgian National Bank (NBG) Chair, Koba Gvenetade, announced on Wednesday.

“We think it is more advisable to maintain a tighter monetary policy for the long term. The refinancing rate is the most important instrument to manage the inflation,” Gvenetadze noted.

Earlier today, Georgia’s National Statistics Office (GeoStat) reported that the Consumer Price Index (inflation) increased by 1.1% in January 2021 compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate reached 2.8 %.
