NBG Acting President: Georgia not to be considered platform for sanctions circumvention
Georgia is not considered a platform for sanctions circumvention, said Natia Turnava, Acting President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
The NBG President further said that the banking sector is constantly monitored for how it observes the regulations and procedures to prevent any attempt.
As for the external assessment, Natia Turnava spoke about the survey published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in February on trading dual-purpose goods, which are sanctioned or partially sanctioned.
“Flows of such goods, exports from the European Union and Great Britain concerning Georgia are significantly reduced and are not directed to Georgia. The inflows are mainly increased toward other member states of the so-called Customs Union. This indirectly indicates that Georgia is not considered a platform for sanctions circumvention,” she said.
