Javier Colomina, the NATO Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, expects Georgia to be participating in the upcoming Vilnius Summit “at the level of foreign minister most likely.”

In response to GPB First Channel question, NATO official stated that “at the end of the day, it’s not the question of who is attending the summit; we are very committed to Georgia and we will continue to be committed regarding who is attending the Summit.”

Colomina also hoped Georgia to be part of the Vilnius Summit’s “strong” communique.

“We are still deciding on how the summit is going to be run. We expect Georgia to be participating in the Summit at the level of foreign minister most likely. Prime Minister Garibashvili was part of the Summit in Madrid and many other partners were not part of that Summit at the highest level or the ministerial level,” he asserted.

The 2023 Vilnius Summit is an upcoming NATO summit scheduled to take place on 11-12 July 2023, in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

Javier Colomina arrived in Georgia for an official visit to discuss NATO-Georgia cooperation and the country’s progress on the Euro-Atlantic integration path.
