National Food Agency launches probe into kindergarten poisoning cases, promises swift disclosure of lab results

The National Food Agency (NFA), in joint coordination with the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, has launched an inquiry into reported cases of food poisoning affecting toddlers and an educator across Tbilisi kindergartens.

According to the Food Agency, its inspectors dispatched food safety teams immediately upon notification, collecting samples from affected pre-school facilities and catering supply companies for urgent laboratory analysis.

The Agency promised to disclose laboratory findings to the public as soon as testing is complete.

Before the start of the academic year, the National Food Agency inspected public nurseries to ensure their kitchens and facilities met legal food safety standards

Furthermore, as part of its ongoing priority oversight, the agency maintains active surveillance across the entire food supply chain within pre-school catering units—monitoring every stage from raw ingredient intake, storage, and processing to final product distribution.
