Georgian National Competition Agency fined five major fuel retailer companies for violation of trading conditions for GEL 4 million based on the research conducted in March-August.
According to the findings, Lukoil Georgia, Sun Petroleum Georgia, Socar, Rompetrol and Wissol supplied non-European fuel (petrol, diesel) and low-cost European fuel to the consumers at high prices through coordinated actions. The companies may appeal to the Tbilisi City Court.
The Agency recommended that in order to improve the competition in the market, the companies should introduce “procedural mechanisms for more effective fuel injection accuracy control.”
“Due to the high public interest and the strategic importance of the market, the agency continues to monitor the fuel market,” the Agency said.
