National Center for Disease Control Director meets new Regional Director of U.S. DTRA

Irakli Furtseladze, Director General of Georgia’s National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), met with Anthony Spears, the newly appointed Regional Director of the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the NCDC said.

The two sides discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation and ongoing joint projects.

Furtseladze congratulated Spears on his new appointment and thanked the agency for its longstanding support.

He highlighted DTRA’s important role in strengthening public health security in Georgia and developing the country’s laboratory capabilities.

Representatives of DTRA, in turn, said that Georgia’s National Center for Disease Control and Public Health is a reliable and leading partner in the region.

The meeting was also attended by NCDC Deputy Directors Paata Imnadze and Irma Khonelidze, as well as other staff members of the center.

Anthony Spears will assume his new duties on August 15, replacing David Kennedy as Regional Director.
