Mtskheta River levels to return to normal during three-day Zahesi reservoir washout
From July 14 to 16 inclusive, JSC EP Georgia Generation will carry out scheduled maintenance at the Zahesi reservoir. The planned operational washout of the hydroelectric power plant’s reservoir aims to preserve its functional capacity and clear away accumulated debris, JSC EP Georgia Generation reported.
According to the company, the maintenance will be conducted in strict compliance with statutory environmental regulations and safety measures.
“The reservoir clearing operations will last for three days, requiring a temporary shutdown of the Zahesi plant. Consequently, water levels in the Mtkvari riverbed in Mtskheta will drop, returning to their natural baseline.
JSC EP Georgia Generation carries out annual desilting and cleaning works across its portfolio of hydroelectric reservoirs to ensure the efficient operation of the power stations,” the statement read.
