MP Sharmanashvili dismisses prime ministerial candidate debate as ‘a fairy tale’, pointing to Saakashvili’s imprisonment and lack of citizenship

“At times I feel we are living in a fairy tale. What Prime Ministerial candidate are we even talking about? The man is in prison, serving a sentence, and isn’t even a Georgian citizen,” stated MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority.

According to Sharmanashvili, the entire situation is laughable yet tragic, as they are fully aware that a foreign national cannot become Prime Minister.

“What are we even discussing? I want to laugh, but the whole thing is tragic, because they know perfectly well that a foreign citizen cannot become Prime Minister. Their Prime Ministerial candidate claims an AI avatar of him should be created, one that looks better than him but shares his thoughts. They are actually discussing this in all seriousness. Imagine, they are trying to justify all this! Had the leader of our party said such a thing, can you imagine the uproar they would have raised? Yet they answer in dead earnest, asking what could be better than modern technology. Tina Bokuchava realised that dealing with them is completely pointless. Let them do whatever they want. We are watching from the sidelines, and I have to laugh. After searching for so long, they found ‘Nanula’ Zhorzholiani, the great reformer, and I congratulate them on that,” Sharmanashvili remarked.

Nanuka Zhorzholiani stated on a TV Pirveli broadcast: “If Misha says he is re-entering politics, becoming the United National Movement’s primary political figure and candidate for Prime Minister, that will simplify the rules of the game”.
