MP Sepashvili: Decision to question Georgian delegation's credentials in PACE contradicts EU values
Eka Sepashvili, a member of the Georgian Parliament and the International Relations Secretary of the People’s Power, has responded to the initiative by some Council of Europe members to suspend the credentials of the Georgian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
According to Sepashvili, this decision is a glaring contradiction of the core European values and principles.
“This move to question the Georgian delegation’s credentials by some members contradicts the very essence of European values and approaches. In my opinion, the only genuinely correct decision would be for the Council of Europe to acknowledge and recognize the composition and credentials of the Georgian delegation, thereby enabling the Georgian delegation to commence its work seamlessly, in line with the values that underpin this esteemed Council,” Sepashvili stated.
Sepashvili’s comments come as the PACE is currently convening in Strasbourg. The final decision regarding the credentials of the Georgian delegation is set to be made on Wednesday.
