MP Samkharadze meets with Congressman Aderholt during visit to Washington

“We have just concluded our meeting with Congressman Robert Aderholt, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a fellow delegate to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. We discussed the state of relations between Georgia and the United States, as well as our readiness to strengthen and improve these ties,” said MP Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament.

During his visit to the United States, Samkharadze is holding meetings with members of Congress and the executive branch as part of a parliamentary delegation.

According to Samkharadze, the Congressman was particularly interested in the situation in the occupied territories. The discussion also covered Georgia’s strategic role in transit and connectivity, with both parties expressing their commitment to future cooperation.

“The Congressman was keen to understand the issues surrounding the occupation, what is happening in the occupied regions, and we provided him with detailed information on this matter, including the threats Georgia faces. We also discussed Georgia’s vital role in transit and connectivity, and the strategic importance of this for our country.

We agreed that, as representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, we will actively collaborate in this area. Additionally, the Congressman is known for his interest in protecting children’s rights, and we proposed that the Georgian Parliament and the U.S. Congress work together on these issues,” said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
