MP Samkharadze calls Marta Kos’s statement “scandalous’: It means banning close relations with new US administration

“The statement by Marta Kos is noteworthy. In fact, it amounts to criticism of the current US administration and a ban on friendship and close relations with it, since the MAGA philosophy stems directly from the administration of Donald Trump,” Georgian Parliament Foreign Relations Committee Chair Nikoloz Samkharadze said.

Samkharadze commented on a statement by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who said that countries seeking to join the European Union “must cut ties with Donald Trump’s MAGA movement” in order to become members of the bloc.

According to Samkharadze, Donald Trump came to the presidency precisely with this philosophy and slogan.

“To put it in terms everyone can understand, this statement means that those who are friends with the current US administration have no place in the European Union. Marta Kos’s statement is scandalous because, for candidate countries, it means banning close relations with the new US administration,” Samkharadze said.
