“Georgian Dream stands beyond reproach and holds the moral high ground before any international institution and, first and foremost, before our own population. Joe Wilson’s phantasmagorias carry absolutely no weight,” MP Rati Ionatamishvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, stated regarding the resolution adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly concerning Georgia.

According to Ionatamishvili, such resolutions primarily damage the image of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and overstep the boundaries of the OSCE’s mandate.

“It is the direct responsibility of these very individuals to restore meaning and trust to the mission for which this international institution was originally established, if they wish any of its authority to remain. Otherwise, it will suffer the same fate we have witnessed with the European Parliament, whose image and reputation have sunk to an all-time low within EU member states,” Rati Ionatamishvili told the GPB First Channel.

For context, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution on Georgia drafted by US Congressman Joe Wilson. The Georgian delegation refused to participate in the vote at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and walked out of the session in protest.
