MP Nikoloz Samkharadze: Talk of prime minister and president is absurd when UNM infighting is so bad they cannot tolerate one another

“When we played football in the yard as kids, some would call themselves Maradona or Pelé; I think the United National Movement are doing the same thing now, carving up non-existent posts,” stated MP Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.

According to Samkharadze, discussing potential Prime Ministers and Presidents is absurd when internal conflict in the party has reached a point where members cannot stand the sight of one another.

“The whole thing is laughable. Frankly, it’s a good thing for the country, because they are trapped in their own delusions,” Samkharadze noted.

Nanuka Zhorzholiani stated on a TV Pirveli broadcast: “If Misha says he is re-entering politics, becoming the United National Movement’s primary political figure and candidate for Prime Minister, that will simplify the rules of the game.”
