MP Mdinaradze says no to Russian laws and no to slavery, as decisions are made based on Georgia's interests
During the parliament’s bureau session, Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the parliamentary majority, stated that the opposition is spreading a lot of misinformation regarding the Transparency of Foreign Influence bill.
Mdinaradze clarified the content of the draft law and emphasized that the draft includes no restrictions.
“Over the past few days, there has been a significant amount of misinformation circulating regarding the draft law. For a year now, there has been an ongoing narrative, suggesting that this law is somehow linked to Russia. Despite how sensational this may sound to some, I want to state unequivocally – No to Russian law. Russian laws have no place in Georgia. At the same time, no to slavery. We are committed to making independent decisions that serve the best interests of Georgia.
I also support the idea of aligning our legislation with European standards, particularly with the European directive that is still pending adoption. While there are no restrictions in our draft law, if you identify any, rest assured we will address them. Contrary to the allegations, our bill neither targets natural persons, nor restricts voting rights, teaching activities, or financial transactions. These claims are false. It does not impose criminal liability,” clarified Mamuka Mdinaradze.
