MP Matikashvili: Group of agents has neither place nor mandate to govern country

“The United National Movement has been reduced to a shadow of itself. Its current state is the consequence of the destruction and anti-national, anti-state actions that the agents’ group brought upon itself. They cannot even reconcile with one another,” said Georgian Dream MP Davit Matikashvili.

According to Matikashvili, the opposition is deeply divided and incapable of governing the country.

“Can you imagine what this country would be like if they came to power by any means or mechanism? How do they treat each other? Where is the party line that is supposed to serve as its guiding principle? How do the same worn-out political figures change their positions overnight at the decision of a single leader? Society will judge all of this.

This group of agents has neither the place nor the mandate to govern the country. Society has already delivered a clear and fair political verdict against them, and that verdict will remain in force. Now we are waiting for the decision of the Constitutional Court. We expect another court ruling that, we hope, will remove this radical opposition from the political arena as a political entity,” he said.

Commenting on the Opposition Alliance, Matikashvili claimed it is essentially another version of the United National Movement.

“The situation within the alliance is no different. It is simply the second division of the collective National Movement, made up of the same worn-out political faces. These are people for whom the homeland means nothing, who are consumed by their own ambitions. Society has already passed its verdict on them as well,” Matikashvili said.
