MP Makhashvili highlights PACE President’s commitment to facilitate Georgia’s return after mandate renewal

“During our meeting in Hungary, we discussed the upcoming elections and the Georgian delegation’s current absence from PACE activities. Concerns were voiced about the delegation’s withdrawal from the format at this stage,” stated Levan Makhashvili, a member of Georgian Dream and the European Integration Committee chairperson.

He added that the President of PACE reaffirmed his willingness to do everything possible to help Georgia overcome obstacles and facilitate its return to the Assembly.

“We outlined the conditions we consider necessary for our return, and Georgia stands ready to rejoin once these are addressed. The PACE President described these not as conditions, but as ideas and proposals. He expressed a strong desire to restore relations promptly and see Georgia back in the Assembly. Our stance remains that these were not mere ideas—they were clearly defined conditions imposed by radical groups, which, we believe, represent an unfair approach toward Georgia. Nonetheless, the PACE President reaffirmed his commitment to support Georgia’s return once the delegation’s mandate is renewed in January,” Makhashvili concluded
