MP Machavariani: We warned that Opposition Alliance had no future; they despise each other but formed facade on foreign orders

“This is the statement of a desperate man. We declared well in advance that this alliance would have absolutely no future,” stated MP Levan Machavariani, a member of the parliamentary majority.

Machavariani was commenting on a statement made by Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, who had remarked: “The time has come for the signatories of the Opposition Alliance to reconvene and rethink what we are doing; I too want to know where I stand.”

According to Machavariani, the Opposition Alliance consists of individuals who despise one another, yet were forced to present a superficial coalition to the public due to instructions from abroad.

“This was a well-calculated move by their foreign paymasters to stir up further hype and chaos within this very faction, drawing the public’s attention towards them while leaving Lelo and Gakharia’s party outside this coalition. Since 2025, their foreign patrons have been attempting to distance Lelo and Gakharia from the collective United National Movement, this collective network of foreign agents, in the eyes of our public, presenting them as if they were independent parties to place their bets on them in 2028. Naturally, they will not succeed in misleading our citizens with such manoeuvres,” Levan Machavariani noted.
