Georgian parliamentary majority member Levan Machavariani has criticized remarks by German MEP Michael Gahler, calling them disrespectful.
Machavariani responded to a statement by Gahler in which the MEP noted: “These Moscovite creatures Ivanishvili, Kobakhidze and Co are the ones that should leave the country and allow the big majority of the Georgian people to continue their path to a European Georgia, not a Soviet Georgia.”
According to Machavariani, Gahler’s comments do not reflect Germany’s position or the German public’s views.
“It would be good to clarify to Gahler that such a Russian narrative is no longer effective and has become outdated. Regarding his vocabulary, it shows a clear lack of respect, primarily towards himself. We believe this is not the position of the German people or Germany as a whole, as Germany and its citizens stand far above such remarks from this impolite individual,” Machavariani said.
