MP Levan Machavariani: Regions face governance and decision-making challenges; Mdinaradze to lead effort at highest level

“There is no need to comment at length on Mamuka Mdinaradze’s capabilities; we all know what he is capable of and his style of working,” declared parliamentary majority member, MP Levan Machavariani.

According to Machavariani, the regions face challenges in governance systems and in decision-making, as well as in expediting bureaucratic processes.

“We want all of this to run as seamlessly as possible. Within his power, Mamuka Mdinaradze will bring the operation to the highest standard theoretically achievable. Any questions regarding his removal or sidelining are entirely redundant. Any opponent would wish that Mamuka Mdinaradze were no longer one of our team’s leaders.

In setting up this position, we do not shrink from addressing systemic issues. Regional difficulties remain, largely stemming from protracted decision-making processes across the hierarchy, coupled with a failure by some officials to take personal ownership. Consequently, this whole process needs to be speeded up. Mamuka Mdinaradze will lead everything at a remarkably high level, and the operation of the regions will run like clockwork,” Levan Machavariani stated.

Machavariani also spoke about the opposition, remarking that he would call it “playing house” when the opposition forms an alternative parliament, establishes a parallel government, and hands out posts amongst themselves.

“They announce new groupings, coalitions, or alliances, smile at each other, offer encouragement, and then dissolve again within a month or two. For them, Salome Zourabichvili stopped holding the office of president only after the entry listing her as President of Georgia disappeared from the official website of the German government. That is to say, they even had their own president. When they live in this virtual world, this parallel parliament and parallel government, distributing positions among themselves; that is playing house in the most classic sense,” Machavariani added.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, Mamuka Mdinaradze will assume the post of State Minister for Regional Policy Issues, which will be established within the Georgian government.
