MP Kirtzkhalia: October 1 marks turning point in Georgia’s recent history

October 1 is not merely a date of victory for our political team. It is a day that we regard as a turning point in Georgia’s recent history, Parliamentary Majority Leader and Georgian Dream faction chairperson Irakli Kirtzkhalia wrote on social media.

According to Kirtzkhalia, 14 years ago, the entire country united around a national idea under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“It was his personal responsibility, self-sacrifice, principled stance and leadership that created the opportunity for political change to take place in the country through elections. For Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili’s role did not begin on October 1. For many years, he has undertaken numerous projects of national importance. This continues today and will continue for as long as our country needs it,” Kirtzkhalia wrote.

He said the Georgian Dream team associates Ivanishvili with the formation of the political course that continues to shape the country’s policy of protecting sovereignty, peace and national interests.

“When we remember October 1, for us it is also a day of gratitude to the people who made the right choice at that time. We also extend special thanks to the loyal members and supporters of Georgian Dream,” Kirtzkhalia said.

“October 1 reminds us where this path began. Fourteen years later, it is our responsibility to continue this path to protect Georgia’s peace, sovereignty and national interests,” he added.
