MP Kadagishvili labels "third centre" as external scheme and president as "out of line"
“The president is acting outside the constitution. There’s an effort to convince the public that a new political force is emerging,” stated Irakli Kadagishvili, a member of the parliamentary majority.
Kadagishvili referred to the so-called “third centre” as an external scheme.
“For some time, we have noted that even the most irreconcilable factions have been compelled to unite to overcome the five per cent electoral barrier and create this imitation of a third centre. This is an external directive, as none of these political parties possess the history or capability to act independently. It’s an attempt to persuade the public that they are the new force to rally around,” he explained.
He continued, “They recognize that the National Movement cannot expand its electorate, and these parties also cannot surpass the barrier independently. The president is out of alignment. Salome Zourabichvili has taken on this burden, attempting to lend credibility to the alliance. Do people not see that those who once condemned each other are now joining forces, all for the sake of power? They want to enhance this process using Salome Zourabichvili.”
President Salome Zourabichvili has called on parties led by Mamuka Khazaradze and Giorgi Gakharia to unite, announcing her invitation for consultations at Orbelian Palace on September 17.
“We need to simplify choices for opposition voters—a positive third centre that can attract undecided voters and energize society. I believe in this potential, which is why I’m engaging in discussions as a neutral facilitator,” she stated.
