MP Gabunia: Circulated survey data is important indicator of public sentiment

“The survey circulated on social media has not been officially published, but the information that has been circulated is an important indicator of public sentiment and attitudes in the country,” Giorgi Gabunia, Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Culture Committee, said.

According to Gabunia, public trust in the government is unprecedentedly high.

“We have demonstrated this repeatedly, both in the parliamentary elections and at the local level. External funders continue to place their bets on the radical opposition, but they are bankrupt and in a completely immoral situation. They have no resources to engage with society or claim a mandate to come to power. The survey once again shows the reality and the situation that exists in the Georgian political spectrum,” Gabunia said.

A slide purporting to show results of an International Republican Institute (IRI) survey has been circulated on social media. According to the circulated slide, Georgian Dream has 36% support, while the United National Movement has 5%. The slide gives 2% each to Iago Khvichia’s Girchi, the Labour Party, Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia party and Ahali. It lists Ana Dolidze’s For the People party, Zurab Japaridze’s Girchi – More Freedom, Strategy Aghmashenebeli and the People’s Party at 1% each. Lelo and the Federalists are not included in the circulated figures.
