MP Archil Gorduladze urges October 4 protesters to accept plea bargains and confess

“Protesters involved in the violent rallies on October 4 trusted Paata Burchuladze and the other organisers; they can now choose to trust them again, confess to their crimes, repent, and accept the plea bargains offered as part of the Prosecutor General’s Office’s declared position,” MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Issues Committee, has said.

According to Gorduladze, the events of October 4 constituted an attempt to overthrow the government by force.

“Paata Burchuladze has been convicted of an exceptionally grave criminal offence. Whether his recent statements are aimed at saving himself or protecting the people he incited is for the public to judge. On October 4, there was an attempt to change the government through violence. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, Georgia averted another revolution and a foreign-sponsored attempt to impose external rule,” Gorduladze stated.
