Montenegrin President sees Georgia as important partner

President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic, who pays the first official visit to Georgia, held a face to face meeting with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.

Montenegrin President said Georgia and Montenegro had similar values, and Montenegro supported Georgia on its Euro-Atlantic integration path. He added Georgia is an important partner, has stressed the significance of political stability for the country. “Without political stability, you cannot reach your targets,” he said during the joint briefing with President Zourabichvili.

Milo Djukanovic further said that Montenegro was experiencing new political maturity. His country changed a single-party rule that continued for 30 years. “I hope that Georgia will take similar steps successfully as it happened in Montenegro,” he said.

According to Milo Djukanovic, Montenegro supports Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders.

Montenegran President sees the geopolitical situation as a complicated issue both in the West Balkans and Caucasus. However, “the roles have to be distributed correctly, and the regions have to be allowed to meet their objectives,” he said.
