Moldova and Ukraine lead Georgia only in negative metrics, says PM Irakli Kobakhidze
“If Moldova and Ukraine lead Georgia in any respect, it is purely in negative indicators,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze asserted on Wednesday, responding to comments from European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
Speaking to journalists, Mr Kobakhidze emphasised that Georgia remains firmly committed to a trajectory defined by stability and economic development.
“If Moldova and Ukraine outpace Georgia in anything, it is solely across negative metrics. God forbid we should ever overtake Ukraine and Moldova in those areas. We have our own path; our path is one of peace and economic growth, and we will unquestionably remain on this course,” the Prime Minister stated.
The Prime Minister’s remarks came after EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, responding to a question from a Georgian media representative, stated that she wished Georgia were currently at the same level as Moldova and Ukraine, given the overwhelming support of the Georgian people for European integration.
