On December 23, the Ministry of Sports of Georgia held an award ceremony for the country’s best athletes of 2025 at the New Sports Palace in Tbilisi.

Athletes were recognized in eight categories at the event.

According to the Ministry of Sports, fencer Sandro Bazadze was named Georgia’s Male Athlete of the Year 2025, while judoka Eter Liparteliani was awarded Female Athlete of the Year.

Georgia’s 2025 Athletes of the Year:

Young Athlete of the Year: Vakhtang Lolua (Greco-Roman Wrestling)

Female Para-Athlete of the Year: Ana Japaridze (Para-Taekwondo)

Male Para-Athlete of the Year: Giorgi Kaldani (Para-Judo)

Non-Olympic Sport Athlete of the Year: Temur Samkharadze (Powerlifting)

Team Sport of the Year: Georgian National Basketball Team

Team of the Year: Georgian Judo Team

Female Athlete of the Year: Eter Liparteliani (Judo)

Male Athlete of the Year: Sandro Bazadze (Fencing)
